Air conditioning servicing and maintenance

To maximise the performance, economy and lifespan of your air-conditioner, it is important to maintain your air-conditioning unit through regular self-servicing and professional servicing. We recommend that you get your air-conditioner serviced professionally at least once every year prior to Summer, to ensure that your air-conditioner is operating as efficiently as it can be.

By taking a few simple maintenance steps, you can ensure that your air conditioner continues to run smoothly, with less need for repairs. Check your air conditioner on a minimum six monthly basis as follows:

  • Check the filter: check the filter in your air-conditioning system for a build-up of dirt and debris. If there is a visible film or dirt, your filter will need to be replaced or cleaned, depending on the type of filter system you have.
  • Clean the vent: use a vacuum cleaner or brush to remove any built-up dust or dirt on your return air (the large vent with filter inside). This will help your filter last longer.
  • Clear the condenser unit: ensure that there is no foliage or other debris interfering with your condenser unit (the large unit that sits outside of your air-conditioned building). If any leaves, branches or other objects have entered your air-conditioning unit, be sure to carefully remove these items or contact us to provide professional assistance. This will avoid costly and irreversible damage to the condenser unit.
