What is reverse-cycle air conditioning? Is it expensive?

Reverse-cycle air conditioning is an air conditioning system that can both heat and cool.  This makes it the most versatile temperature control system on the market today as your investment is used in both summer and winter.

The comparative system of using gas or wood to heat, and evaporative systems to cool may cost a little less to install initially, however these systems don’t supply the same control over the temperature.  In particular the reverse cycle heating function fills the entire room with warm air, as opposed to the area of intense heat, with cold spots that a gas or wood fire provide.
