Is it okay to switch off my air conditioner at the powerpoint or fuse box?
It is okay to turn the power off, particularly if you are away for long periods. Most Daikin air conditioner outdoor units have a low wattage crankcase heater the keeps the compressor warm. If the compressor is cold, damage may occur at startup, so if you turn off your air conditioner at the powerpoint or fusebox it must be turned on again at least 12 hours before use.

I’m worried about rising electricity costs. Are reverse cycle air conditioning systems energy efficient?
Energy efficiency is an important factor in the purchasing decision for air conditioning. Airforce are a Daikin specialist dealer, and Daikin have invested heavily in research and development to continuously improve energy efficiency. Efficient computer designed air control surfaces, proprietary inverter technology and intelligent eye sensors are some of the factors making Daikin air conditioners energy efficient. Airforce also offer advanced controller systems such as MyAir5 which offer the innovative motion sensors and Outside Air systems which have the potential to greatly reduce your energy consumption. Zoning your house correctly will also result in a more energy efficient system.
How do I choose the right size air conditioning unit for my home?
Every home is different, and the choice of air conditioning unit will depend on many factors such as window size, ceiling insulation, room volume, room orientation to name a few. It’s an important decision to get right as an incorrectly sized air conditioning unit that is too small won’t adequately heat or cool your home, and one that is too large will be inefficient and expensive to run. Airforce Airconditioning has the expertise and knowledge to assist you in making the right choice.
Should I choose a wall hung split-system or ducted air conditioner?
There are several points you need to consider:
- How big is the area you want to heat or cool
- How many people occupy the space
- What is the material of the roof and insulation
- What direction do your windows face? Are they shaded?
- What other heat generating appliances are you running in the space?
- What is your budget?
- How much space there is in your roof?
If you’d like to heat or cool the entire house, and you have sufficient roof space then a ducted system is the best choice for you. If you only want to heat or cool one or two rooms, or don’t have enough roof space then a wall hung split or multi split system would best suit your air conditioning requirements.
What is the standard warranty period for air conditioners?
Most reputable manufacturers provide 5 years on the air conditioning units, and ducting supplier provide 5 years on their controllers. Airforce Airconditioning also provides 3 years on our installation which is longer than most other installers as we are so confident of our quality installation.
